Though it has been almost 3 years since the 2019 global pandemic, the supply chain is still struggling to recover. Getting supplies from distributors’ warehouses has been extremely difficult with lead times of 3-6 months - and that is only if the supplies are in stock. The supply chain issues that have devastated this industry have caused a tremendous shortage of raw materials. Materials such as copper, aluminum, steel, and semiconductor chips are not available to make necessary HVAC-R equipment. Although all materials are important when making HVAC-R Equipment the semiconductor chip shortage has had a lasting effect on the industry. There has been a steady increase in demand, and supply has remained virtually depleted. The lead time for semiconductor chips is 26-52 weeks.  

Due to supply chain constraints, the cost of materials needed to make HVAC-R equipment is only increasing. Manufacturers who can afford to pay higher prices are capable of obtaining the materials needed, which in turn increases the overall price you pay.
